Will the Farming of the GIFT Tilapia fish be a Panacea or Enigma for Africa: Policy Brief 18

Abstract

The policy brief highlights the need to addressing bottlenecks in the tilapia production value-chain to enable African farmers to respond to ever changing consumer demands and environmental conditions. It further states that for long-term sustainability, greater effort should be on harnessing the comparative advantage of Africa’s indigenous aquaculture species that are adapted to the local environments.
