Abstract
Effective and sustainable management of Africa’s fisheries and aquaculture sector is critical for food security, economic development, and environmental resilience. However, the sector faces persistent challenges, including inadequate policy awareness, weak monitoring systems, limited data availability, and the growing impacts of climate change. A SWOT analysis was conducted to assess the internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as the external opportunities and threats, affecting the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Africa, in order to inform evidence-based policies, guide strategic interventions.
