Abstract
The framework and plan aim to encourage African coastal states and stakeholders to conserve, protect, and restore marine ecosystems and resources, halting biodiversity loss. It provides a framework for regional cooperation, seeks to mainstream marine biological diversity, improves information sharing, increases public participation, and guides the formulation of national and regional biodiversity frameworks. It also facilitates regional consensus on key biodiversity issues, contributes to Agenda 2063, and the SDGs.
