This communiqué presents the proceedings and key outcomes of the first Steering Committee meetings of the Regional Aquatic Animal Health Networks for North Africa and Southern Africa, held on 24 June 2025 during the World Aquaculture Safari in Kampala, Uganda. The meetings brought together stakeholders to discuss regional cooperation, coordination, and priorities for strengthening aquatic animal health systems. The communiqué highlights the establishment and roles of the regional networks, areas of collaboration, key challenges and opportunities in aquatic animal health management, and agreed actions to support surveillance, disease prevention and control, information sharing, capacity development, and sustainable aquaculture.
