Abstract

The objective of this consultancy assignment was to review and align national fisheries and aquaculture policies and laws with the Policy Framework and Reform Strategy (PFRS) for fisheries and aquaculture in Africa, regional instruments and global best practices in 15 African Union Member States (AU MS) namely: Somalia, South Sudan, DR Congo, Libya, Chad, Sudan, Central Africa Republic, Sahrawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Madagascar, Niger, Burkina Faso and Liberia. The specific tasks undertaken under the contract included the development of a framework within which to coordinate and harmonize fisheries policies to ensure coherence in the policies of the selected member states in line with the PFRS and other relevant global fisheries and aquaculture instruments
