Abstract
The CAADP Strategy and Action Plan (2026-2035) envisions sustainable and resilient agrifood systems for a healthy and prosperous Africa. In line with Agenda 2063, the African Common Position on Food Systems and the COP28 commitments on food systems, it advocates for transformative, holistic approaches that span the entire agrifood value chain, from production to consumption. The strategy integrates economic, social and environmental dimensions to enhance food security, improve nutrition and promote agricultural sustainability, while focusing on strengthening institutional capacity, harnessing technology and diversifying economies through value-added activities and agro-industrialization that create jobs and improve livelihoods. Guided by the principles of national ownership, inclusiveness, environmental sustainability and multi-stakeholder coordination, the plan emphasizes evidence-based decision-making, mutual accountability and regional cooperation to harness synergies across the continent.
