| dc.description.abstract | The Organisation of African Unity (OAU) launched a new campaign to control the tsetse fly, the vector for trypanosomiasis, on Feb 19 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the OAU plans. to release- millions of sterilised male. flies across 37 African countries, in the hope that by mating with healthy female flies and displacing fertile male flies the fly population will be reduced, which in turn will reduce the number of people and livestock infected each year. | |
