Abstract
The 29th Conference was held in Complexo de Futungo II Luanda, Angola, 1st-5th October 2007 after a two week postponement. It was opened by Angola Minister for Health, H.E. Dr. Jose Vieira Dias van-du Nem after a speech by H. E. Madam Rosebud Kurwijla, Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture for the Africa Union on behalf of the Chairperson of the Commission, H.E. Prof. Alpha Oumar Konaré. The
meeting was preceded by PAAT Advisory group and later a presentation by The Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) and a field trip.
Description
The conference was organised in five themes viz: PATTEC and Country Reports; Glossina Biology and Control; Human African Trypanosomiasis, Animal African Trypanosomiasis; Socio-economics, Landuse and Environment, each one being preceded by a keynote address to highlight outstanding issues before the selected oral papers were presented. Networking and Capacity Building were discussed as cross cutting themes.
