Alignment of Madagascar’s Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Policies with the African Fisheries and Aquaculture Reform Policy Framework and Strategy (PFRS)

Abstract

The National Strategy for Aquaculture Development (SNDAM), published in 2021, marks the period during which the Ministry of Fisheries was integrated into the Agriculture sector under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries ( MAEP). The document is valid until 2030 and focuses primarily on the development of aquaculture. The SNDAM ( 2021 ) is a sectoral policy document whose purpose is to translate and specify the objectives of the Government’s general policy relating to fisheries and aquaculture within the aquaculture sector, and to provide a strategic framework for promoting the aquaculture sector in Madagascar (SNDAM, 2021).
