<title>Food Safety Strategy for Africa: 2022 - 2036</title>
<link>http://repository.au-ibar.org/handle/123456789/1405</link>
<description>Food Safety Strategy for Africa: 2022 - 2036
African Union; African Union (African Union Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture)
The Food Safety Strategy of Africa (FSSA) will provide a harmonized framework to implement activities that mitigate various food safety threats that negatively impact consumers’ health. The strategy will help to address non-tariff barriers, particularly those related to Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures or standards that have the potential of slowing down the attainment of the Malabo Declaration aspirations and ultimately the African Union Agenda 2063 and related flagship programmes impacted by food safety.&#13;
An additional benefit of the strategy will be reduction of duplication of efforts, facilitating synergy leveraging on resources and capabilities, and enhancing lesson learning and best practices. This strategy is developed as a tool for the implementation of the Continental SPS Policy Framework for Africa endorsed by AU policy organs in 2020.

<title>A Laboratory Manual on &#13;
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for&#13;
Laboratory Tests and Testing procedures for&#13;
Trade Related Transboundary Animal Diseases</title>
<link>http://repository.au-ibar.org/handle/123456789/711</link>
<description>A Laboratory Manual on &#13;
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for&#13;
Laboratory Tests and Testing procedures for&#13;
Trade Related Transboundary Animal Diseases
The arid and semi-arid lands of the Horn of Africa (HOA) are home to poor and&#13;
vulnerable populations, the majority of whom rely on livestock to sustain livelihoods.&#13;
However, the performance of livestock in the region remains low, given the widespread&#13;
occurrence of transboundary animal diseases (TADs) that are responsible for&#13;
production losses, and reduced performance of intra- and inter-regional trade in&#13;
livestock and livestock products. Because of disease outbreaks, live animal exports have&#13;
been severely constrained during the past two decades, by bans imposed by importing&#13;
countries to reduce risks associated with these diseases.
This manual presents the laboratory SOPS for Brucellosis, Contagious Bovine&#13;
Pleuropneumonia (CBPP), Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia, Foot and Mouth&#13;
Disease (FMD), Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), Rift Valley Fever (RVF), African Swine&#13;
Fever and Newcastle Disease.
