Consistent with the call for action in response to the Africa Agriculture Transformation Agenda by 2025 and also in line with the implementation of key policy pillars of the Policy Framework and Reform strategy for fisheries and aquaculture in Africa, AU-IBAR, in collaboration with the NEPAD, embarked on a process of formulating Pan African Plans of Actions on enhancing the contribution of fisheries and aquaculture towards the attainment of the objectives of food security and poverty reduction goals of African Union. The formulation of this Plan of action is to facilitate the implementation of the PFRS as well as assist member states and other stakeholders to increased benefits from the small-scale fisheries sector consistent with particularly the food security goals of the Malabo Declaration.en
