Abstract
The Africa Water Vision 2063 provides a strategic framework to ensure sustainable water availability and safe sanitation as foundations for Africa’s socio-economic transformation. The Vision recognises water as a critical resource for achieving Agenda 2063 goals, including food security, industrialisation, climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth. It promotes integrated water resources management, strengthened governance, investment in water infrastructure, and enhanced cooperation across shared water basins. The Vision also emphasises the role of innovation, human capacity development, and integrated water information systems in enabling science-based decision-making and climate adaptation. By positioning water as a strategic asset, the framework aims to improve livelihoods, strengthen ecosystem resilience, support productive sectors such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and energy, and drive sustainable development across the continent. Ultimately, it seeks to achieve a water-secure and resilient Africa with safe sanitation for all, ensuring long-term prosperity, stability, and environmental sustainability.
