It contributes directly towards implementation of Agricultural Productivity and Production priority area of Agenda 2063 Goal 5: Modern Agriculture for increased productivity and production, where it seeks to drive enhanced animal resource production and productivity. It also speaks to sustainable development and utilization of the fishery component of Agenda 2063 Goal 6: Blue/ ocean economy for accelerated economic growth. This strategic plan also supports implementation of animal resource targets of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP); it also is the vehicle through which implementation of the Livestock Development Strategy for Africa (LiDeSA); the Policy Framework and Reform Strategy for Fisheries and Aquaculture in Africa (PFRS;) and the Policy Framework on Pastoralism in Africa (PFPA); among others are implemented closely with all stakeholders including Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Member States, technical and funding partners, and the private sector. This strategic plan builds on the successes and lessons learned from the implementation period for the AU-IBAR SP 2018-2023, addressing critical areas such as governance, production, health, compliance, market access, financial investment and knowledge systems.
